When to Let a Business Go – give up, or keep going…
Posted by admin on Aug 7, 2011 in Blog, Business NLP, Goal Setting | 0 commentsOne of the most inherent traits of an entrepreneur is their ability to keep going when times become tough. Does this mean that they will crack on with a project if it hasn’t yet made it off the ground, or if it seems to be going nowhere? Nope! Far from it …

it’s always a difficult decision to let a business go
An entrepreneur will be able to identify when it is time to put a halt to a project and look towards starting another one. Does that mean they’ll jump ship? No! It means that they recognise that they might not be getting the returns they are seeking from the investment of their time, energy and money. Not all businesses will be successful, however, the key to being an entrepreneur is to be able to recognise this, stop when you need to and look for the next opportunity.
Richard Branson is a great example of an entrepreneur. He has had numerous failed projects before making a success of the Virgin brand as we know it today. However, the key to his success is his determination, drive, focus and underlying belief that the right project is out there.
So how do you be like Branson? Well, invest your time, energy and money wisely, keep your finger on the pulse of your business at all times and make sure the financials stack up. Lead your team, understand your start-up environment, and realise that you’re in it for the long haul.
However, always have your exit strategy in the back of your mind even if you don’t communicate it with your team. If you want to be like Branson – and be remembered as a successful serial entrepreneur – then you should always know when to get out.
Be excellent …
