The Magical Entrepreneur – always has a plan B…
Posted by admin on Sep 20, 2011 in Blog, Business NLP, Stress | 0 commentsMagicians and Entrepreneurs have a lot in common. They’re both quick thinking and have the ability to change direction at a moment’s notice; and when it all goes wrong, they’re both able to pull a rabbit out of their hat and keep things moving forward …

when things go wrong, pull a rabbit out of your hat and your team will think you’re amazing
As an entrepreneur, you know that you are empowered to make decisions. This is about knowing you have the skills, knowledge and experience to formulate your procedures and processes, then have the flexibility to make adjustments and changes as everything unfolds.
Like the magician on stage, an entrepreneur needs to feel empowered to make the right decisions and be able to react quickly enough to events that push your plans off the track you have assigned to them.
If you can’t react – or you don’t know what to do when something goes wrong – then you become disempowered, your energy drops and your team may start to lose faith in you as that first flash of indecision crosses your face. The magician would get booed off stage, but to the entrepreneur, it means life and death for your business.
In the face of adversity, your plan B must kick in. It could be something as simple as your parcel carrier goes on strike and your customers’ orders can’t be delivered. What are you going to do? What is your plan B? The magician would probably just tell a joke …
If one carrier goes on strike and you can easily switch to another without your customers knowing, how empowered will you feel? But if you didn’t have a plan B … how disempowered would you feel when everything ground to a halt?
A great entrepreneur will have a plan B for each stage of their business process. Knowing you have the choice to turn to plan B and then be flexible in your approach is key. The more choices you have, the more empowered you become.
When things go wrong, be like the magician! Pull a rabbit out of your hat and your audience – your team – will think you’re amazing and your customers should never know anything went wrong!
Be excellent …
